Travis Scott is the next rapper to release a collaboration with athletic apparel super brand, Nike. The announcement of their Air Force 1 Low collection was announced on October 24th, 2017.
As part of the 35th anniversary celebration of the Air Force 1, Nike is creating a "velcro upper customizable Air Force 1 low sneaker with reflective accents on the canvas," which will showcase the stylistic influence of Travis Scott as well. "When we first met with Travis, the first thing he said was, "I'm the acid of rap," said the Senior Creative Director of Nike Sportswear, Al Baik, which seemingly meant to translate the classic and "really trip it out."
Travis Scott will be the latest celebrity to collaborate with Nike, following Kendrick Lamar, who designed a reiteration of the Cortez sneaker, and Virgil Abloh, renowned designer of luxury streetwear brand, Off-White. Travis Scott has already established his own reputation for creating capsule collections with renowned brands, having recently released a collection with Helmut Lang this year.
