The new Marvel movie Thor: Ragnarok debuted in the US this weekend with an astounding success. Not only did it make $121 million in its first weekend, $35 more than the previous in the franchise, Thor: The Dark World, but it also received great reviews, which will keep bringing more viewers in the following weeks.

Debuting two weeks after Thor: Ragnarok, DC's Justice League has high box office expectations, but will it be able to beat the $121 million? That question is what many film aficionados are asking themselves in the new battle in the Marvel vs. DC war.

One factor that has helped Thor: Ragnarok's numbers is that both men and women are making their way to the movie theater to watch it. After the first weekend, 56% of the audience is male and 44% female, compared to 62% male and 38% female on Thor's last movie. It is also likely that the female audience is attracted to the Justice league, since Wonder Woman is part of it and her self-titled film was a huge success as a feminist super-hero film.

I guess there's no way to know if Justice League will be a hit, since reviews aren't out yet. So for now let's just hope it's better than Batman v Superman.
