Elton John - Influencing Fashion

Recently, in the movie Kingsman 2: The Golden Circle, an acclaimed English glam rock made an appearance in playing himself, Elton John. The eccentric artist captured the hearts of the viewers with his kick ass attitude. In the movie, Elton is forcible dressed in elaborate and humiliating costumes. But these tacky suits are also his trademark. Elton John has been dressing in costumes for performances, influencing contemporaries such as Lady Gaga.

Elton no longer dresses in such outlandish costume (he's getting pretty old), but his vibrant past is certainly still influencing fashion today. As his appearance in Kingsman 2: The Golden Circle shows, Elton's costumes are memorable and beloved. They represent his quirks, his passion, his fun-loving nature. At the Spring/Summer 2018 Gucci show in Milan, Alessandro Michele’s collection showed very clear tribute to Elton John. The similarities are obvious.

The eccentric music star may be old to wear his elaborate costumes today, but his fans, admirers, and friends are picking up where he left off. Elton John will continue influencing fashion and music with his unique, bold, and frankly bad-ass style. The world is waiting to see in what other unexpected places he (or his influence) may appear.
